Identifying myths and mental schemas shaping international scientific collaborations in Iran's higher education system with emphasis on Jung's archetypal method

Abstract

Background and Aim: The development of international scientific activities is one of the main concerns of the world's top universities in order to improve quality, branding and increase credibility. In this regard, the present research has been conducted with the aim of identifying the myths and mental schemas that shape international scientific collaborations in the country's higher education system.
Methods: The current research has been carried out in terms of practical purpose and using descriptive-analytical qualitative research method. The target group of the current research was the existing documents in this field. which was selected as a research sample using the purposeful sampling method of existing articles, books and documents. The tool of data collection was taking notes and reviewing documents. Mythological method was used for data analysis with emphasis on Jung's archetypal concept.
Results: Based on the findings of the research, xenophobia and conspiracy illusion were identified as myths that shape international scientific cooperation in the country's higher education system.
Conclusion: The internationalization of higher education in countries firstly requires constructive communication, interaction and dynamic and constructive scientific cooperation with the outside world. In this regard, it is suggested that the negative background towards international interactions, such as xenophobia and illusion of conspiracy, should be removed carefully and considering the national interests of the country.
