Abstract

As religion says, children can have positive and constructive effects in their parents' lives. From the point of view of Islam, children are considered as important pillars of the family. The purpose of the present study is the relationship between family population with family efficiency and parental satisfaction in the members of the retirement Center of Qaen city. This research is descriptive-correlational type. The statistical population of the research was all the members of the retirement center of Qaen department of education, among whom 150 people were selected by simple random sampling method. In addition to demographic information, necessary information was collected with the help of Hoshiari et al.'s family efficiency questionnaires (2015) and Kansas parental satisfaction (1985). Then the results were analyzed with the help of Spss23 software and using the one-way ANOVA analysis. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between family population (number of siblings, number of children) with family efficiency and satisfaction with parenthood. The reason for the contradiction of these findings with Islamic teachings can be found in the low variance of the number of children, employment and marriage problems of children in the current conditions of the society, and also the "less children, better life" slogan that have been carried out in the past years.
